The Importance of DAILY MASS

Pope Saint Pius X foresaw the days in which we now live. With the wisdom of one who understood the consequences of sin, he foresaw thepresent condition of the world which defies God by its infidelity, itssacrileges and its blasphemies. He, like Saint John Bosco before him, evenforesaw the future condition of the Church in our day, invaded by Modernistsand besieged by Marxists—years before the Blessed Mother warned that,"Russia will spread her errors throughout the world." In his firstencyclical (E Supremi of October 4, 1903), Pope Pius even acknowledgedbeing "terrified" to become the Pope at that time because he sawworld developments as presaging the coming of the Antichrist. Yet, he well knewof the ultimate triumph of Christ and what the Blessed Virgin would predict asthe triumph of her Immaculate Heart.

The Saintly Pontiff prescribed the remedies for the evils ofthe day, and chief among those remedies was the frequent reception of Our Lordin Holy Communion. Saint Pius X saw the need of the young people for access tothe Blessed Sacrament to draw and hold their love and loyalty to Him againstthe world's unrelenting effort to beguile and corrupt them. He urged that thepriests of the Church make it possible for the children to receive HolyCommunion often, even daily, if possible. That meant that he wanted thechildren to have access to daily Mass, since that is the primary means throughwhich Our Lord's sacramental Presence is offered to them.

The priests of the Society of Saint Pius V hearken to thevoice of Saint Pius X in doing all they can to provide young and old alikeaccess to Our Lord in Holy Communion every day in His Holy Sacrifice, the Mass.We realize that not everyone will appreciate—some might even resent—the timeand effort devoted to the daily Mass and, in their opinions, taken away frommore important occupations such as study, recreation, sports training andphysical exercise, etc. But our priests also understand the mind of the Church, and the needs of the human race right now. We understand the importance ofevery little child, every teenager, every young and older adult who makes anact of love for Our Lord in receiving Him devoutly each day and every day.Certainly there will be those who do not love Him and do not place any value onhonoring Him and receiving Him in Holy Communion. Some will no doubt resentgiving their time and effort to their Creator and Redeemer. And others mighteven encourage their lack of appreciation for the Mass by sympathizing withthem. But for every one such person there are others who love Our Lord andhappily join their hearts with His Own during the Mass and who lovingly receiveHim at every opportunity. It is such daily acts of love by “the little ones”which please God so much that He tolerates the sins of so many others. Each andevery Holy Communion devoutly and lovingly received each and every day by eachand every one of those children of God is another plea for Divine mercy for theworld. “Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven!”
